Genki Sushi
by: Manila For Kids

Genki Sushi is a chain of conveyor belt sushi restaurants established in 1990. It all started with the young Japanese sushi chef Fumio Saito. In December 1968, he created the first revolving conveyor belt to serve sushi, combining serving traditional sushi with modern technology. Probably you'll remember those conveyer belts where the sushi would pass around the bar and you could grab whatever looked appealing to you. I haven't seen those sushi places in a long time. Genki Sushi has evolved much since then and now it's my kids' favorite restaurant ever. And look at this line of people outside, waiting for Genki Sushi to open. Genki Sushi & Manila For Kids So, why is this little place so popular with our kids? And soooo worth it to go? It has something to do with tablets, race cars and bullet trains...

How to order food at Genki Sushi

When they found out you have to use a tablet to order the food, they already got excited. We needed some time to figure out where to find our favorite food, as the menu is divided in categories and we were not too familiar with the names. The kids however, were quick to learn so they just took over. Your order then appears in the on-screen train and when you press send, your food is almost on its way! So, they kept on ordering, and ordering.  You can view your bill on screen so you'll have an idea when to stop, but it was too much fun, and the food was good too! Sushi, sashimi, rice bowls, edamame, big ice creams. It's easy to find something for everyone's taste. Just be sure to tell the kids not to touch it as the water is very hot!Genki Sushi & Manila For Kids Genki Sushi & Manila For Kids Nice touch to serve the edamame in a Hello Kitty bowl :) Below we made a little video so you know what to expect.
