Bring your family to Global Mala Manila!
by: Manila For Kids

Bring your family to Global Mala Manila and start your journey to a healthy and mindful way of living. Activities and classes are available in all levels - for 13 years and above. Younger kids will have some fun too!

Global Mala Project

The Global Mala Project was founded by Shiva Rae in 2007  to unite yoga, service and collective action. The purpose of the project is to bring the global yoga community together from every continent, school and approach to form a "mala around the earth." These events will be happening simultaneously in cities including: Los Angeles, New York, London, San Francisco, Tokyo, etc. It is the largest unified worldwide yoga event, dedicated to positive change, in the history of the planet. In line with Fall Equinox and the United Nations' International Day of Peace, this global celebration aims to raise funds & awareness for some of the most essential issues of our times. The funds raised from the Global Mala events go to a different charity each year.

Global Mala Manila

Wanting to bring the Global Mala Project to the Philippines and Southeast Asia, Shiva Rea entrusted the task to one of her students, Teresa Herrera to produce and lead the Manila chapter. Through its successful events, Global Mala Manila was able to help raise funds for Liter of Light, Coalition Against Trafficking in Women, Mano Amiga Academy, Trees for the Future, Children’s International and Tubbataha Reef Organisation. This year, the funds raised at the event will go to WWF Philippines.

What to do at Global Mala Manila

Global Mala Manila is an event for the mindful living family, or the ones who aspire to become one. This year, the Global Mala Project will have a variety of movement classes ranging from all lineages of yoga, and non-traditional classes of drumming and capoeira. In addition, talks on health, wellness, sustainability and mindful living.

Classes & Talks

There are classes in all styles of yoga; from Ashtanga to Hatha yoga to Yoga Trance Dance. Try several classes and find the style that suits you. Feel the energy that transcends from this global practice! In between classes, attend some talks by experts, to inspire your family to live a positive and healthy lifestyle. You might want to know how to do a 'Heathy Kitchen Makeover' with Hindy Weber, while your older kids could benefit from 'Affirmations and positive Self-talk' with Victoria Herrera. I'm interested to attend 'Purposeful profit' and don't we all need a bit more advise on how to 'Bring out your inner sexy'!? Classes are open to all levels, so don't be discouraged if you have never touched a yoga mat before. This is an eco friendly event that greets all practitioners with a sense of community, openness, diversity, integrity and love. Pace yourself and have fun! Just bring our own yoga mat, towel, water bottle, and open heart. Wear comfortable clothes that you will be able to move and sweat in. Attend as many classes and talks as you can. Please refer to the event schedule below, to know the different classes and its time. Global Mala Manila Global Mala Manila

Activities for Kids

What better way to introduce mindful living by bringing your children to Global Mala Manila. Show them different yoga styles like Acro yoga or Hip Hop Flow. Your teen might love these! Or attend a few inspirational talks together. Who knows, it might help them get through puberty more peacefully. For some fun, let them release their energy and absorb positive vibes at the Capoeira class and Drum Jam! These regular classes and talks are open to anyone 13 years old and above.   For the younger ones (3-6 yrs), Rainbow Children Manila offers a fun activity involving Story Time & Music. While Art & Meditation is available for their older siblings (7-13 yrs). All children can also participate in a Kids Yoga Circle with Bubbles Paraiso. Kids 3-10yrs old are FREE of charge as long as they are accompanied by a Full Access Paying adult. (Note: Yes, Yaya's will need a ticket even if they don't practice.) Everyone 13 and above can join all the regular classes and talks. Global Mala Manila

Mindful Market

In celebration of its 10th year, the Global Mala Project is also introducing The Mindful Market. A completely green space that promotes and supports organic, natural, and sustainable products, businesses, and services. Each participant of the Mindful Market shares the same values of wellness, sustainability, conscious consumption and living a zero-waste lifestyle. I'm looking forward to finding new sustainable products for my family, and of course I'll be taking time for a yummy and healthy lunch!

The entrance fee is P750 for whole day access to the event, plus attendance to as many classes and talks as you like. 100% of the proceeds goes to this year's chosen charity: WWF Philippines. Children (3-10 yrs) with Full Access paying adult are free of charge. Get your tickets here.

Global Mala Manila will be held on October 1, from 8 AM- 10PM at The Blue Leaf Pavilion, McKinley Road. Learn more about Global Mala Manila and get your tickets at Global Mala Manila
