One day at the Manila International Book Fair is not enough
by: Manila For Kids
So, my friend Francesca and I went to the Manila International Book Fair at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay. Almost 6 hours later we stepped out and we hadn't even covered everything yet. A day is not enough!
There are of course books. For children, young adults, adults, art, history, digital, books in Filipino, English and Spanish, etc. You name it, they'll have it. And most books at the MIBF are on sale.
But there is so much more!
This is a list of things we loved.
This place is heaven for bookworms. You'll find every topic, genre, local and international publishers. Museo Pambata had a cute stand where we got their '101 Recycling Crafts' book. Kids can sit at comfy bean bags and read or rest for a bit.

Adarna House is a well known local publisher with many award winning Filipino books on its name.

We loved the booth of ABC Children's books from Mindanao. We got the award winning book 'War Makes me Sad' in a bi-lingual version so we get to practice our Filipino. We also loved their colourful book 'Malong, the Magic Cloth'.

Colourful books in English, Filipino and many had both languages
Tanahan carries this cut-and-build your own Intramuros book. This would make a very nice gift. We got this and the new edition of 'A Lolong Time Ago', a funny history book with nice illustrations, perfect for older kids!

Get your Christmas shopping done early as there are loads of booths with educational toys, wooden toys, Lego robotics, Christmas gifts and more! You can find these mostly on the second floor of SMX Convention Center.
You can use this for charts, photos, little things you want to display

Fully Booked has a huge booth and everything is at 20% off. Books, but also these cute Star Wars crochet boxes. They also had the characters of Frozen, Disney princesses, Marvel and The Wizard of Oz.
Let's get creative
Your kids also have some playtime at the Manila International Book Fair. This little boy made a crane at iCreateCafe. There is arts & crafts, a Princess Pageant, a Fandom Fest with activities like Lightsaber training sessions, Quidditch tryouts, and photo ops with Star Wars characters. Have you read our other list of things to do for kids at the MIBF?
All made by himself!
Artline hosts an art workshop on Saturday. For P300 you get markers and a tumbler to customise your own.

You'll meet artists and authors signing their own work for you. Museo Pambata sells artwork and you'll find some nice gems between all those books! We got vintage postcards, with images from the Philippines from a long time ago.

There is food and drinks for sale. Tip: bring a roller suitcase. You'll end up unable to carry everything. And don't forget to take a selfie with this guy! Enjoy your day!
